No sound when using PS3 with surround sound?
No sound thru surround sound when watching movies or playing games on ps3?
I have my surround sound hooked up but i get no audio when playing ps3, i get the surround to work when watching tv. Yamaha surround sound

I have a Yamaha HTR-6130 REceiver and I have the hdmi going from DVD on the receiver to the PS3.....Also have an HDMI going out ofreceiver to TV. Also have a HDMI out of receiver to Cable box.

I have played with the sound setting on the ps3 with no luck....i have not messed with any setting in my receiver....it works fine when watching tv, just nothing when trying to hear ps3
That Yamaha receiver can not process audio from the HDMI ports. It is known as a "pass-through" receiver. It can only forward audio and video from it's HDMI inputs to the TV. This makes it more complicated to get surround sound, but I have instructions below.
If you want to hear surround audio from the PS3, then you have to connect an optical cable (TOSLINK/SPDIF) from the PS3 to one of the digital inputs on the receiver. There are only two digital optical inputs on that receiver, the CD input and the DTV/CBL input.
So connect an optical cable from the PS3 to the DTV/CBL optical digital input. Then connect an HDMI cable from the PS3 to the DTV/CBL HDMI input. Set the PS3 to output audio for an optical connection (in Settings).
Why did I have you use the DTV/CBL input on the receiver for the PS3 instead of the DVD connection? Because the PS3 can not output digital audio in a coaxial format, and your receiver only accepts coaxial audio at the DVD digital audio input.
The DVD input on your receiver should then be used for the cable box. The DVD audio input is labeled COAXIAL in the DIGITAL INPUT connection area. Hopefully your cable box has a digital coaxial output.
Any standard RCA cable can be used to make a coaxial audio connection, you may already have a stereo RCA cable on hand. Just use either the white or the red color coded plugs from a stereo cable, you won't need to connect both colors. Then connect an HDMI cable from the cable box to the receiver's HDMI input labeled DVD.
If your cable box does not have digital coaxial output, then you will have to get creative. You could use stereo RCA cables and connect to the receiver's analog DVD audio input (L,R). You will not get 5.1 surround, but unless you have digital cable and 5.1 surround broadcasts then this is not really an issue.
Or you could connect HDMI cables from the PS3 and cable box directly to the TV, and then connect optical cables to the receiver for audio. The problem with that is that you have to switch video inputs on the TV and audio inputs on the receiver whenever you want to switch between PS3 and cable. This also involves using the CD input, which probably does not support 5.1 audio. So then you would have to buy an optical switch to connect both devices to the DTV optical port. Sorry this is so complicated, but that receiver has very limited connection options if you want surround.

2009 YAMAHA R1 ripping thru Mulholland
does any one know what causes gasoline to leak thru my exhaust pipes on my yamaha v-star motorcycle?
I STARTED IT TODAY IT RAN FOR LIKE 30 SECONDS THEN IT STALLED A FEW MINUTES LATER I SMELLED GAS IT WAS LEAKING FROM THE EXHAUST I NEVER GOT TO TAKE IT OUT
