Two bolts busted off my car tire what am i looking at for repairs?
Two bolts busted off my car tire what am i looking at for repairs? It's been making a thumping/knocking noise! Just wondering what all needs to be replaced or what could need to be replaced. Any estimates on cost?
If it makes any difference it's a 2003 Chevy Malibu
Take off the wheels and brakes. Knock the old stubs of the studs out of the wheel hubs. You need to turn them to a place there's a slot they fit through- pretty easy- and put new studs in. Replace the lug nuts too. Tightening the new lugs will pull the new studs in place. If you put a dab of grease on the threads of the studs you won't get any more stuck ones. You'll spend probably $10 and one hour if you know what your're doing, and 2 hours if you never worked on brakes before. If you look in Chiltons Auto Repair manual, it will show you how to do it and save you time and money. All good libraries have Chiltons.
