Throttle Position Sensor And Idle Air Control Valve?
i own a 1991 Chevy Cavalier 4cyl 2.2L motor auto trans
and i just wanted to know what a few things did on my car
1.. Idle Air Control Valve
2.. Throttle Position Sensor
3.Air Charge Sensor
please help!
also would any of that make a car use alot of fuel?
Idle air control valve regulates the idle speed by adjusting the amount of air going in the intake during idle.
Throttle position sensor tells the computer how far down you're pressing on the gas pedal.
Air charge sensor tells the computer what temperature the air going into the engine is.

pivot throttle control
electric throttle control light came on, what might be the cause?
i was driving back home, on cruise ctrl, the etc light came and my engine went idle, still was going 80 but had no throttle response, when i slowed down on the side, my truck was idling unevenly! its a 2005 dodge ram! i turned the truck off, then back on and it was fine! is it a electronic failure somewhere or its mechanical!
Not sure what kind of mileage you have on that truck but it still maybe be under warranty.Problems like you describe can come from many different things and the main comp should of recorded some kind of error code but the comp might of just had a programming or operation clitch.
I'd for sure check into the warranty , plus check for any codes via a free scan etc , also find out if any factory recalls or service bulletins or flash program updates exist regarding this issue or others via dealership.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if the throttle control system failed the comp should of picked up a code for sure.
Another thing is check or have someone check the grounds going to the comps, and cruise control especially if no codes show up and the problem still exists.
