Artic Cat 98' Panther 550 Deluxe 1 cylinder dead any ideas?
I HAVE A 550 ENGINE THAT ONLY RUNS ON ONE CYL, THE MAG SIDE.CHECKED COMPRESSION,OK AT 130 PER CYL.HAVE SPARK AT THE COLD CYL. HAS FUEL AT THAT CYL,PLUG IS WET AFTER RUNNING FOR A MINUTE.CDI IS BRAND NEW,COIL IS NEW. CHANGED CRANK SEAL ON THAT END.STATIC TIMING IS OK.NEW THROTTLE SWITCH. PULLED BOTH CLY. AND CHECKED CRANK WITH DEGREE WHEEL THAT WAS OK.HAVE ABOUT 7-10 LBS VACUUM AT FUEL PUMP OUTLET. WHAT IS LEFT? AT WITS END ON THIS ON.!!!
Boy! Not much you haven't tried . Just a stab in the dark but i would check to may sure the start enrichment plunger is seating properly closed when you take it off after the engine starts.

1994 Honda Civic Lx??? Motor Swap?
someone please help literally i just paid $100 for a civic it needs a new head and a driver side door that's it i have those parts just laying around but the car is pretty much gutted so i had a epiphany and said wow this would be great for project car. im planning on takeing over this years drop jaw mag event. i only have on question what engine would be the best for this car WITH NO ENGINE BAY MODS i dont want to cut all day i want to pull the 1.5 and replace it bolt for bolt no modding simple bolt and play. please help i was wanting the K20 but someone told me the new popular swap is the D16 so please someone the best answer goes to the one who explains the following. WHATS THE BEST MOTOR AND WHY thanks... by the way it's a 1994 Honda Civic Lx B15 NON Vtec motor SOHC
dont go d16, not worth the time. no power. its an economical motor. b-series is the more performancy motor. b-series k-series and h-series would be your best bet. out of the b-series the most common swaps would be b16a which is JDM. has around 170-180hp stock. i think its right in the middle 175. depends who you talk to...b16a2 from a del sol or most commonly a 99-00 civic Si. they have 160hp. those both are 1.6 L (future reference engine code tells you how big motor is b18-1.8 h22-2.2 k20 2.0L etc)... the more powerful b-series motors would be the b18 family. for a decent more turbo oriented build i would go with a b18b1 from an ls integra. i would NOT go LS-VTEC. its very rare to find someone who built it the right way and very common to find people with blown ls-vtec builds. b18b1 are non vtec motors. they have alot of torque and a decent hp rating and are ideal for turbo builds. the next few motors i would build for all motor naturally aspirated builds. the b18c1 from an integra gsr has 180 hp and is a very common swap. its cheap power basically. then you get into the more rare motors like the b18c5 from a USDM type-r integra but i would go with a b18c from a JDM type-r or GSR same engine code but different hp ratings. i think the tyoe r has 200 and the gsr has 190 they are pretty much the same motor but the type r has polished head and little fine tunings that make it a bit more powerful. those are what i would choose if you went b-series. if you went this route all you would need to do really is buy a motor mount kit from hasport i believe and there ya go. you get the motor tranny ecu and wiring harness and such.
for k-series i would go with a k20a from a type-r all k20a have 200+ hp depending on who built them if its a stock honda motor its 200 then you get into the mugen versions and different year type r which can be 220hp. then theres the accord type r from europe which has like 260 i think. im more of a b-series guy so i dont know much about k-series i just know i hate i-vtec its a good motor but its not what i like. and they are NOT the most advanced 4 cylinders. that guy is on crack the best 4 cylinder would be an f20c from a honda S2000. 250hp. its a historic motor, it had the most hp to displacement ratio out of any car ever made. over 100hp per litre. it beat out every super car...
with a k series you need to buy the hasport swap kit. the axles and hub assembly and all that. good swap just very expensive.
H-series. dont know much about them. dont like them. i know h22a from an accord euro r i would go with that. very nice motor.
