Starcraft 2 Tips and Strategy: Zerg units: Mutalisk
Starcraft 2 is one the hottest game in the gaming market today. What I am going to talk about is my favorite zerg unit and one of the most versatile mid game unit in the Zerg arsenal, Mutalisk. The Starcraft 2 tips I am going to share with you is a basic introduction to Mutalisk and how professional Starcraft 2 gamers use this unit to its best potential.
Introduction to Mutalisk
Requires: Spire
Producer: Larva
Cost: 100 mineral 100 gas 2 food 33 seconds
Type: Light- Biological
Speed: 3.75
Class: Air
Hitpoints: 120
Armor: 0

Weapon: Glaive Wurm
Range: 3

This Starcraft 2 tip shows the basic structure of a Mutalisk, you can notice Mutalisk is the most basic air unit a Zerg player can have (Except for Overlords). Mutalisks are generally good at picking up any units that cannot attack air and is especially good to kill harvesters due to their Glaive Wurm attack.
So what are Mutalisks good against?
Like I said they are generally fairly good against all ground units that cannot attack air. Mutalisks with their above average flyer's speed can also be use to pick out drop ships efficiently. However the Mutalisks being light armored are very weak to attacks. However they are a good unit to use to maintain map control since their speed is good and they are flying unit.
How do we use these Mutalisk like a pro?
Some simple Starcaft 2 tips of using them are:
Once you have them, keep the harassment to the max
This Starcraft 2 tip is once you got your first fleet of Mutalisks out fly over to harass opponent mineral lines, kill of unprotected buildings in simple terms do some damage to your opponent. Since they are so fast and highly mobile, you can keep this harassment for very long time without engaging.
No Expansion for your opponent.
In Starcraft 2, a good Starcraft 2 player would not want your opponent to expand. With this Starcraft 2 tip, you can almost not allow your opponent to expand. With a good flock of Mutalisks and constant scouting to know when your opponent wants to expand and you can keep up constant harassment to stop the expansion. If opponent player send their troops to guard the place they want to expand, simply fly into their main and kill harvesters, lone units and building.
Mutalisks vs Thor
In Starcraft 2 most Zerg players suffer heavy losses when their mass Mutalisks meet up with Thor. Yes, Thors are good counter to Mutalisks but with this Starcraft 2 Tip, Mutalisks with good control can kill Thors with less hassle. The trick is to move your Mutalisks to a spot and let them spread out slowly themselves. With the spread out formation fly over Thor (not attacking it) and hold them right above the Thor. This will allow them to keep the spread position and not be affected by the Thor air splash damage.
