Why is my quad's radiator expansion tank bubbling?
my 1996 polaris xplorer 400 4x4's radiator expansion tank is bubbling. I just had to replace the head gasket. I even put in a new fan sensor. As soon as i start it up the expnsion tank looks like its boiling but its ice cold so its air. Could it be my radiator cap is being bypassed?
i also did use hitack sealant on both sides of head gasket. head is not warped either.
Sounds like the head gasket is not sealed properly and allowing combustion gases are getting into the coolant pathway

What's the best way to clean radiator overflow tank ?
I'm restoring an older car and trying to save a few bucks on an overflow tank for a 1972 Cutluss. Everyone wants an arm and a leg for a new one. The one I have is still good, just very dirty. I'm looking to clean or dress it up.
If it is out of the car, put some detergent, water and several good handfuls of coarse clean sand/fine gravel in it and shake. Then shake a bit more. This will get rid of the looser stuff inside.
Get a small container, say 2 ounces of citric acid from the baking aisle at the supermarket, plug all the openings in the tank, dump in the citric acid crystals and fill with warm water, give it a swirl when half full to get things dissolving. Leave it say two or three days. This will remove some of the rusty stains and lime, or you can use an acidic bath cleaning product for the same thing. Almost any acid will do, but citric acid is food grade and pretty safe as long as you don't get it in your eyes. White vinegar will also work, but you will need quite a bit as it is only about 8% acetic acid.
To get greasy marks off, put the tank in a container, add a good lot of powdered laundry detergent and add hot water. Stir occasionally, let it soak for a few days at least. Some of the stains will have sunk into the plastic over the years and will take a long time to remove entirely, but after several days this will remove or at least fade some of them.
