2007 subaru oil and trans filters aren't the same?
According to the dealer, the trans and oil filter are different and even are labelled which is which. Looking at the Amsoil site, they sell only 1 filter for both. What I have read is that the threads are different so you can't interchange them. Anyone know of why this is?
I would contact Amsoil, but would guess it could be due to the type of bypass valve that is in the filter.... Transmission fluid works at a much higher pressure than engine oil.

Are Fram Oil Filters The Best ?
I need technical info about bypass filters and oil paper for engine filter?
I am living in Iran and working for a company which want to work on producing bypass filters and its oil paper under 50 micron.
Check out this site... www.wixfilters.com .... in their education area, which is free, they have a great section on everything for filtering products from oil to air to include the priciples of how bypass filters work. They even cover media types and micron ratings.
