Leaky intake gasket on 86 camaro?
I replaced my old steel intake on my camaro with the edelbrock performer aluminum intake and i noticed that i had to reifll the coolant over flow twice now (thankfully after twice i thought something was up. i have no external signs of leak and no smoke so no leak into cylinders. I did notice the mayo looking stuff under the top of the valve covers, yet there was none in the crankcase as i drained the oil to check. and shined a flash light all up and down the heads and no signs of it in ther either. i do remember though when i put on the bracket for the throttle return spring my friend said those bolts werent real tight. Would i have a leak or incorrect seal with the intake gaskets?
thank you to Texas! i know a couple of the bolts are loose and there were no signs of the milky oil any lower than the heads cuz the drained oil was crystal clean. i figured the intake gaskets were letting in some coolant and it was getting shot up through the heads to the valve covers.
You probably just had an air pocket in your cooling system. The mayo looking stuff under the valve covers is condensation. Make sure all the bolts are torqued properly.
