How do you replace the parking brake pedal assembly on a 1994 oldsmobile cutlass supreme?
My buddy and I need to replace the parking brake pedal and assembly on a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme FWD. I can find the assembly but I can't find the instructions to replace it. Unfortunately I cannot afford to get it professionally done, and I can't afford the repair manual. Can somebody help me?
this is not a job you want to do yourself. if you are going to do yourself, the tools are going to cost as much as just taking it to a service shop.

What is the purpose of the parking brake on an automatic car?
So you can select 'Park' on an automatic car to stop the car from rolling if it is stopped. A parking brake is provided on manual transmission cars as they don't have a 'Park' facility. Why is a parking brake provided on automatic cars?
The park position in an automatic isn't much different than simply putting a stick shift in gear when you park. It prevents the drive shaft or front axles from rotating.
The parking brake, on the other hand, locks up the brakes on the rear wheels - this eliminates any unnecessary stress on the clutch or park mechanism when you park on a hill.
