The use of color coded brushes throughout the food processing industry is now a standard practice. The following is the color coding system that is generally used throughout processing facilities.
•WHITE – FINISHED OR COOKED FOOD CONTACT SURFACES.
•RED – RAW OR UN-COOKED FOOD CONTACT SURFACES.
•YELLOW – EQUIPMENT EXTERIOR AND ENVIROMENTAL SURFACES.
•BLACK – DRAIN CLEANING ONLY.
CARE OF BRUSHES
Prior to use dip brush into a pail of sanitizing solution. When not in use do not place the brush on the floor. Following use, hose rinse and dip in a pail of sanitizer (Dibac at 2.0oz/5 gal). Hang up brushes in designated area/rack. Brush heads and handles should be plastic. No wood should be used in the facility.
