How to drain a Fuel tank on a 56 plate Vauxhall Astra 1.7CDTI?
Stupidly I went and put the wrong fuel in my car last night, I put petrol in a diesel engine. The car is a 56 plate Vauxhall Astra, TDCi engine, I didnt run the car as I realised straight away what I had done, and I put just over 7 litres of fuel in, I need to drain the fuel tank but cant do it the old way, by sticking a length of hose down the filler cap, the AA guy said to put a length of hose on the nozzle where the fuel goes into the fuel filter and turn the key a few times so that it tries to prime the engine, does anyone know if I need to start the engine and run it for the fuel to start pumping through, or any other ways of draining the tank??

Life the base of the back seat. It's a bit tricky with the wire clips in the frame. On the driver's side, there is a large back plastic plug. Remove this. You will then see the pump. Disconnect the pipes, and then twist off the black securing ring. Lift the pump out a little at first, let the fuel drain out. Watch the float lever at this point, it sits to the side. Remove it totally, and then get your hose in, then siphon in the traditional method. Refitting is a reversal of the above procedure. Enjoy.

1989 Ford F-150 front fuel tank problem?
Truck has 2 tanks. Dash switch to front tank. Fuel gage goes to zero.
Front fuel tank is completely full. Truck is not used very often. No pump noise when key is turned-on. Engine runs ok with rear tank activated.
Does this sound like a bad front in-tank pump? Thanks for any help.
If you set the switch "on" to the front tank and the truck starts and runs, you have a bad fuel gauge sending unit in the front tank. If the truck will not run on the front tank, you may have a bad fuel pump and fuel level sensor.
The dash switch could also be worn out.
