Wireless Range Extender?

Hi, I'm just wondering if a D-Link DWL-G710 802.11g Wireless Range Extender will acutlly work. If it does how do you hook it up. Do you just plug in the adapter and then there's a USB on it and that goes in your computer? Or what?! I have one of those D-Link things that have a USB on it but that doesn't reach far enough. I mean I can see the network, it appears on the screen but it has no bars so would a D-Link DWL-G710 802.11g Wireless Range Extender work?

Set up as a range extender the DLink should extend the range totally wirelessly if you place it somewhere between the original wireless unit and the PC. You will need to connect it with a cable to the PC to configure it to match the original.

I need some help here, I think its related to DOS?

" 2. Installation

To install the HX DOS extender runtime do:

‏ unzip HXRT in a directory of your choice, for example C:HX.

‏ include the BIN subdirectory (C:HXBIN) into the PATH environment
variable, which usually is set in CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT.
Or copy the files from C:HXBIN to a directory included in PATH."

Now, how do I do this?
what line should I specifically add to autoexec.bar (or config.sys)?

Using a text editor (like Notepad), open the autoexec.bat file.
Look for an existing PATH statement. If you find one, add c:hxbin to the path statement. I think the directories are separated by semicolons in a path statement.

If a PATH statement doesn't exist, add it to the bottom by typing:
PATH=C:hxbin

Save the file. Reboot. Good to go.
