What's wrong with this Accord EX-L V6?
Okay, so I've been looking for a cheap used car and I found a 1999 Honda Accord EX-L V6 sedan. It's in great shape, it hasn't been wrecked, it has low miles, and is a great price. There's just one thing that concerns me before I buy it. Whenever you are at a complete stop, and then accelerate, the body of the car shifts backward. It's like the front axle is loose and when you step on the gas pedal, the car wabbles around on it. It's not the g-forces, it's something different. It feels like the front of the car slides backwards. It only does it sometimes though. Is there anything wrong with it or is that normal? My parents have an Accord and it doesn't do that, so I was wondering if there's a major problem with it.
I would have the motor mounts and front suspension linkage checked out. There's a lot of rubber in those joints which could be dry rotting. That the only thing that came to mind. Your best bet is to ask the current owner to inspect the vehicle. Anything worth worrying about would come up in a safety inspection.
