pink slip man in jail atv for sale, what to do?
My friend (eric) wants to sell his motor cycle (atv) to me for money. The problem is his dad (bob) is in jail and he is the owner of the bike. Since (bob) is in jail the pink slip is gone. Since (bob) is in jail can't (eric) have the rights to sell the bike? How does this work, whose bike is it? Is it dangerous for me to get the bike? How would i register the bike in my name? Thanks soooo much.
Technically, your friend, Eric, can not sell you the bike because it is not his. However, if his father wants it sold, he can allow Eric to sell it for him as long as the transfer of ownership is handled properly. The father being able to sign over the title to you would be important. Surely, that could be arranged if the father was agreeable. Another way could possibly be to have his father get a power of attorney, limited to the sale of this piece of property, to allow Eric to sell it directly to you.
Either way, the father's consent and signature is required to legally complete this transaction to properly transfer the ownership to you.
BTW, Bob being in jail grants Eric no additional rights to Bob's property unless the judge specifically ordered control of Bob's property to Eric
If you agree to purchase the bike from Eric without the appropriate approval and agreement of the father, then when he (bob) gets out, he can come back after the bike. Both you and Eric could be charged if the father decides to pursue this legally.

ATV for sale
I bought an ATV and have a bill of sale that i own it but still waiting for a tile on it. What should i do?
The person i bought promised i would get a title for it in the mean time she left for a deployment and i cant get a hold of her. Went to her parents house and talked to her mom about it and she said she would help me on it. Now she will not return my calls or anything. I have no way of talking to anyone and need to sell the bike. What kind of Lawyer should i get? I need some help it has been about 4 months and i dont have any anwsers. Please help.
you can't do anything without a title. go to the DMV and they should have the legal answer.
